In May 2015, Southeast Community College Student Veterans Organization was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Vet Center Initiative grant program, which is a partnership between Student Veterans of America and the Home Depot Foundation, to renovate, build and improve a center for veterans on campus.
Student Veterans Organization competed with other Student Veterans of America chapters across the country to submit the best business plans for a Vet Center. The 50 best business plans were selected to receive grants from Home Depot to turn their plans into reality.
On September 11, 2015, the Veterans Connect Center was opened on the Lincoln Campus in room U3. The Veterans Connect Center was created to improve educational programming, services and fundraising for Student Veterans and their families. The goal is to establish a one stop shop where all student veterans, service members and their families can have access to the necessary assistance and resources to become successful and productive in today’s college environment. The operating hours of the center are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Contact Stephen Dietz at 402-437-2862 for more information.
